Our story

Having begun in 2022 as a coffee van serving coffee from a converted Mitsubishi Carry to the villages of Dartmoor, our long term goal was to see men and women drawn into employment and mentorship. After a fun couple of years on the road, we came to realise that this model wasn’t sustainable enough to ensure a safe, consistent place for men and women to rehabilitate.

What we do

Every penny given to Holy Fool goes towards our mission. We don’t just offer hospitality and coffee skills training — we’re building a redemptive enterprise: a thriving business that employs and engages people who are often denied the chance to rebuild their lives. Together, we seek to break negative cycles through meaningful work and mentorship.

How we do it

In Autumn 2024 Holy Fool ran its first ever training programme, in a fixed location on the quayside in Exeter. This course taught participants a broad spectrum of technical skills, including an introduction to brewing espresso, dialling in and steaming milk. Working alongside course leaders, students received hospitality experience by attending local events in Exeter to serve coffee.

Our second course in Spring/Summer 2025 was an evolution on the first for a handful of graduates from the previous course. This time we offered more in-depth training across a broad range of hospitality skills, along with mentoring.

Our coffee

We only sell exceptional seasonal coffees, from producers who value both quality and sustainable land stewardship.

Our coffee always adheres to strict standards, it will always be clean, sweet, well sourced and from producers who use minimally invasive farming techniques.

Using years of experience working in the specialty coffee industry, we bring you the best specialty coffee has to offer.
